I use shout wipes as soon as I see the stain – if you don’t do that get a bottle of spray and wash and just spray the stain before it goes into the dirty clothes and they give it a quick one before you place it in the wash – it always gets our family’s stains out.
my sister n law soaks everything in dreft in the tub before doing laundry and i have to say i tired it and my kids clothes are looking better hope this helps =)
You can use regular bar soap, as long as you get to the stain as soon as it happens. I find that this works just as well any of those expensive pre-treatments.
Dawn Dishwashing Detergent is wonderful for stains. Just place some on stain and rub in .It doesn’t matter when you wash the item.
You can add about 1/2 cup of Borax to each load that you do with
your favorite laundry detergent and launder as usual.
2 weeks will set in a stain. You can spend money on a pretreating stick or gel. They work ok.
Make sure you have a drawer of play clothes and a drawer of dress clothes. Keep his stained and torn clothes for him to run around on weekends and play. Dress him in nice clothes for visits or outings. That way you can relax and toss the play clothes into the hamper and the dress clothes you can look over and wash a stain out in the kitchen sink with dish detergent. (not soaking the whole garment). Then hang it up to dry and throw it in the hamper. This works for me. This only works for school at this age if you lower your standards enough. We’d all spend a fortune trying to keep preschoolers in new looking clothes at school. It’s hard enough to keep them in clothes that fit and aren’t torn.
I use Spray n Wash with Resolve… Check out the websites for money-saving coupons.. Also, SOAKING garments will help remove stains.. Check the garments BEFORE they go into the dryer and re-treat and re-wash if necessary…
But, SnW does work… My 2 yr. ancient spilled an entire bottle of liquid foundation all over himself and the rug.. I pretreated his soaked top with Spray n wash… and soaked it in COLD water… The foundation was completely gone BEFORE I tossed it in the wash. I also add 1 cup of baking soda to my wash loads.. It helps the detergent work better..
Excellent luck
Hands down the best thing I have EVER found for getting out all stains except oil is a bar of Ivory soap. Just wet it at a corner, and rub it on the stain and throw it in the machine.
For oil, I have heard that Dawn dishwashing soap works fantastic, I have also heard that dishwasher detergent is a fantastic stain remover, though I’ve never tried that.
I place Dawn on an oil stain a couple of days ago, but I still haven’t washed the shirt, so I’m not sure about that yet – but I had to find something to get out oil stains since stain stick was ruined.
Stain stick, though it doesn’t work on oil anymore, is still a excellent other types of stain remover, and a fantastic pre-treater
I agree that stains left for two weeks will more than likely set in, making them near impossible to get out. On the other hand, many commercial pre-treatment products will themselves stain if left on the clothes for that length of time as well. Read the mark on these before treating & throwing in the hamper. Personally, I used Oxy Clean on my kids’ clothing. Make a paste and rub into the stain, then add as directed into the wash. The vital thing is to treat the stain as soon as the clothing is removed and wash as soon as possible, even by hand.
Pre soak in water and a mild detergent and add some baking soda to the mix, then wash as normal.
